Clean Air Zones Map

Clean Air Zones (CAZ) are areas in the UK where targeted action is taken to improve air quality. These zones have been introduced in response to rising pollution levels and are designed to encourage drivers to use cleaner, more environmentally-friendly vehicles. Several cities across the UK now have operational CAZ schemes, each with their own specific rules, charges, and exemptions.

The most well-known CAZ is London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), which operates 24/7 and charges vehicles that do not meet the Euro 6 (diesel) or Euro 4 (petrol) standards. But ULEZ is only one part of a larger network — cities like Birmingham, Bath, Bristol, Portsmouth, Bradford, and Sheffield have also implemented their own zones, each with tailored requirements based on local air quality needs.

There are four types of CAZ classifications in the UK — Class A through D — with varying levels of restrictions:

  • Class A: Buses, coaches, and taxis are affected.
  • Class B: Adds HGVs to the affected vehicles.
  • Class C: Includes vans, minibuses, and more commercial vehicles.
  • Class D: Includes all vehicles, including private cars.

Our tool helps you instantly identify which zones your vehicle is subject to and whether it meets the standards. We also provide links to each city’s official site so you can pay charges, appeal fines, or check for exemptions if necessary. This ensures that you’re always driving legally and avoiding unnecessary penalties.
